Life Science ranked in the world's top 100

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2013/14 ranked Life Sciences 95^th, acknowledging its status as being among the very best of its kind globally.

THE rankings are the only university performance tables to judge world class universities across all of their core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

It employs 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available, which are trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments.

Professor Dan Charman, Dean of the College of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Exeter, welcomed the latest rankings.

He said: “We are delighted that our outstanding achievements in research and teaching have been recognised in the latest Times Higher Education world rankings.

“Everyone associated with Life Sciences here at the University of Exeter has played an integral part in this achievement, and it is testament to the hard work and dedication they display on a daily basis.

“This success reflects their determination to make this a truly inspirational place to work and study.”

The THE rankings also saw the University of Exeter breaks into the top 150 globally for first time, at 148^th.

Steve Smith, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive commented: “The University has come a long way in a relatively short time; our upward trajectory was first reflected by the domestic league tables and is now beginning to be recognised internationally. Whilst this is a fantastic result, Exeter will continue to improve its position as its reputation for world class teaching and research grows around the globe.”
