£20,000 RFU grant
The RFU has awarded a grant of £20,000 to Dr Mark Wilson, Dr Chris Byrne and Professor Roger Eston to conduct research on the efficacy of current coaching methods in youth rugby.
The project involves a critical appraisal of the RFU’s current young player development programme from a psychomotor, cognitive and maturational readiness perspective. It also includes studies on the efficacy of specific small sided games for developing skills in children and young players.
