£50,000 surgical research funding awarded

The University of Exeter and Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust secure funding of £50,000 for a surgical research fellow.

Mr John McGrath, Consultant Urologist for the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust, and Dr Mark Wilson from the School of Sport and Health Sciences, have been successful in securing £50,000 funding for a surgical research fellow, from the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Trust.

The successful applicant will be based at the Urology department in Exeter under the clinical supervision of Mr McGrath and will support Dr Wilson's ESRC-funded research project investigating gaze strategies of laparoscopic surgeons. The research fellow will assist with data collection, analysis, and the dissemination of results. Their key role will be to examine the potential clinical benefits of the research and increase surgeon’s engagement with the project as the intended beneficiary of the research findings.
