I have recently graduated from the University of Bath where I studied Sport and Exercise Science with Professional Placement. For my placement year I came to CHERC to work as a research assistant and gain experience in the research environment including vascular research and the measurement of cardiorespiratory fitness in children and adolescents. My final year dissertation project compared the postprandial lipaemic response of co-ingestion of either fructose or galactose with a mixed macronutrient meal in non-obese females.
I have now returned to CHERC to complete a Masters by Research. My original project was investigating the impact of prolonged sitting on vascular health in adolescents and strategies to attenuate the likely detrimental effects but this got cancelled due to COVID-19. My research now investigates the associations between physical activity and sedentary time with vascular outcomes and a clustered cardiometabolic risk score in children using data from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children.

Original project: What is the effect of prolonged vs. interrupted sitting with hourly high intensity interval exercise vs. high intensity interval exercise prior to prolonged sitting on cerebral blood flow and vascular function in the lower limb in adolescents, and the subsequent impact on the response to ingestion of a high fat meal?
