Overview

I am a teaching Professor of Sport and Health Sciences Education and currently the Director of Education and Student Experience in Public Health and Sport Sciences

I completed my PhD at the Children‘s Health and Exercise Research Centre at the University of Exeter investigating the determinants of aerobic fitness in children.  Subsequently I spent time as a post-Doctoral research fellow at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospitals Trust, investigating heart rate variability modification with exercise training in cardiac rehabilitation patients. I then worked for 3-years as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist in the National Health Service at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals with both cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation patients in addition to coordinating a GP exercise on prescription scheme. I then re-joined the University of Exeter which has allowed me the on-going privilege of expanding my teaching and research interests but more importantly to work with the next generation of our students.
