Owen Tomlinson

Owen is a PhD research student within the Children’s Health & Exercise Research Centre at the University of Exeter. He has previously obtained a BSc in Sport & Exercise Science from the University of Bath, and an MSc in Paediatric Exercise Physiology from the University of Exeter.

His doctoral research project focuses upon the role of exercise testing in children with cystic fibrosis, by validating outcomes measures, characterising longitudinal changes in exercise capacity, identifying limitations to exercise and utilising exercise testing to assess interventions.

Owen liaises closely with the clinical team at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, providing expertise in cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and training team members in its use and implementation. He also networks with cystic fibrosis exercise technicians nationwide, to identify common exercise related issues and develop best working practices.

Owen is also a charity fundraiser, having amassed over £2000 for the East Devon Cystic Fibrosis Quality of Life Fund.
